Job Description

Position Summary

• This occupational safety and health position provide strategic direction, tactical management and procedures required to reduce risk and maintain regulatory compliance serving the South Asia region.



• Responsible for Environment, Health & Safety for South Asia region.

• Work with company’s corporate safety team to understand the corporate policies and programs.

• Maintain a keen insight into the region safety situation and affairs and update senior management and corporate on all significant developments and changing situations.

• Review, administer, maintain and ensure compliance with company policies and various country regulations.

• Review, analyse, develop and communicate environmental health and safety programs, policies and procedures. Develop action plans as necessary for program rollout and sustainability.

• Support recruitment of country Safety leads, Responsible for orientation, training for the new safety resources. Provide direction to country-level safety professionals as needed.

• Lead the effort to complete training programs and report out to the leadership team. Conduct risk assessments for all the sites. Develop, implement, and manage safety and risk management programs.

• Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.

• Establish a common regional framework for safety compliance, measurement and reporting

• Manage all liaison with local authorities with regards to safety matters

• Coordinate regular site Safety audits and inspections and formulate a common platform for benchmarking and networking. Document and escalate irregularities or non-compliances practices.

• Manage and implement the Accident/Exposure Reporting and Investigation program. Ensure the program clearly explains the methods and practices for reporting and investigating accidents/exposures; communicate risks to management.

• Facilitate and co-ordinate Safety Committee meetings and other safety meetings.

• Coordinate incident investigations which relates to workplace accident, near misses, dangerous occurrence or occupational diseases and report to the management to prevent recurrence.

• Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

• Provide safety input as requested to support business development pursuits.

• Liaise with local authorities, customers, internal staff, contractors and other interested parties on Safety and DG matters, ensuring compliance with any changes to legal requirements

• Provide oversight for DG sites and lead corporate auditing processes

• Ensure safety is adequately represented at all site start-ups. Create site wise Emergency Response Plan and Business Continuity Plan. Conduct tabletop exercise on annual basis.

• Work effectively with Country Managers, Functional Manager and Site managers to enhance the safety program.


At least 5-7years’ experience working as a Safety Manager. International experience preferred. Experience providing guidance/direction to other safety representatives is a plus.


Degree in Occupational Safety and Health; advanced degree preferred. Professional certifications are viewed positively.


  • Ability to work within a multi-dimensional team
  • Excellent knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations of the various countries of the assigned region
  • Must be pro-active in recommending changes to improve on existing conditions
  • Self-driven and independent, possess a strong sense of commitment and ability to meet deadlines
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication, both written and spoken skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions effectively and create focused understanding of workplace Safety,
  • Strong project management and analytical/problem solving skills with demonstrated skill to scope and analyze cross-functional problems and generate/implement solutions.
  • Ability to travel internationally to support business needs
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations
